Hello and welcome all to the NIU community for 2013.

Dear Huskie Bus Patrons,

I would like to inform you that as of the beginning of next semester there will be a number of changes to the bus routes for this system. We will be printing a new route booklet for next semester which will be available in the Campus Life Building, Holmes Student Center, City Hall, and the Residence Hall front desks. The online system will be updated, as well as the online list of routes. All Changes may be seen at http://www.huskieline.com/niu_routes.html

     First, buses 1, 2, 3, 4, 4A, 4B, 4C, & 5 will be ending by 7 PM Monday through Thursday.

Second, the Weekend Circle Routes are being renamed the Evening Circle routes and will only run on Monday through Thursday from 7 PM to midnight, and Friday 6 PM to Midnight. These routes will now be numbered; 9 will be the Evening circle Left, 10 will be the evening circle Right, and 11 will be the evening circle North.

Third, the new Evening Circle North will be running in the opposite direction of the previous Weekend Circle North. The bus will also be picking up on the opposite side of the street for many of these stops, so please check the route booklet or online system next semester.

Fourth, the 7 route will revert to last year’s form (you can see this in the Break Service 7 route) and there will only be one bus.

Fifth, the only bus routes that will run on the weekends will be Weekend/Break Service 7, and Weekend/Break Service 12 (previously the 9). These routes will run from 9 AM to Midnight on Saturday and Sunday.

All of the above changes are only to last until the end of the Spring 2013 Semester.

The following changes are permanent:

The prices for the Elburn Shuttle have increased. Students are now $5, faculty are $7, and the general public are $9.

Finally we will be adding a stop at the corner of Stadium Drive South and Stadium Drive East at the bench for the 8 route.

Thank you for your interest in our Bus System, if you have any questions please feel free to contact the Director of Mass Transit Seth Peritz at Speritz1@niu.edu, or call at 815-753-0483.
